This weekend we went to Puerto Viejo which is on the south east of Costa Rica right on the Caribbean sea. It was so beautiful there. Right now it is the rainy season in Costa Rica so on our bus ride there it was raining pretty hard which caused some trees to fall into the road which wouldn't seem like a big deal but it was like on the major highway(which is like a two way road) so it caused a major traffic jam. The guys job who it was to get the tree out of the road only had a machete. I felt a little bad for the guy he didn't look like he was enjoying life. Well after a very long bus ride around 6.5-7(it was supposed to only be 4) hours we finally got there. the first night we got all settled in and went exploring. We ate at this Jamaican restaurant which was sooo good. One weird thing about there is that there are a lot of cats and dogs that just walk around and do their own thing. Most don't look like strays but they kind of act like it so we weren't sure if they just liked to wander or what. But when we were eating at the restaurant these two cats just like walked around us, under the table on the ledge behind us and even on one guys lap one time. It was quite interesting. Well the rest of Friday just sat in our hammock and chilled. It was good relaxing time.
On Saturday we went snorkeling. It was really fun and pretty. Some people from our group saw a little shark and a squid. I only saw fish but they were very pretty. There was this one that was blue with blue spots but the spots seemed to glow almost...it was super cool. The rest of the day my three friends and I spent at the beach. We swam and I did some drawing in the sand.
On Sunday we went to a different beach which was only like 5 min away on a bus ride. It was just gorgeous. we jumped some waves and played in the sand. I took a little nap like right where the water hits the beach. It was very relaxing actually. Only bad thing was once I got home and took a shower I took about half of the beach with me in my bathing suit haha. Then we just took the 4 hour bus ride home.
Here are some of the pictures of our adventures in Puerto Viejo!!! The first is of our little hotel room. The second is of my roommate, Janet and I on the boat to go snorkeling. 3-6 are of some beach drawings and scenery. Picture 7 is our my 3 friends and I at this cute little cafe eating dinner. Picture 8 is of this giant bug I found while we were waiting for our bus. I swear it was like 4 inches or so. It looks like a giant grasshopper to me. The last picture is of me in hammock that was right outside our room. We spent a lot of good relaxing time talking and laying in the hammocks. A little side note...In Costa Rica they say "Pura Vida" a lot...pretty much for like everything. So that's why we have Pura Vida written in the sand.
