Pura Vida

This is just about some little things in Costa Rica that I have noticed that are just a little different that the US but makes the experience that much more great.

• Hardly anyone has carpet. All the houses are totally tile.  
• you don't put toilet paper in the toilet it goes in the trash can next to the toilet 
• Rice and beans can go with every meal
• people who drive vehicles honk for honking sakes. honking can mean a variety of things such as...hi, move, go ahead, thank you, you're welcome and anything else basically.  It is also a way of warning people that they are coming. Even bikes honk at people. 
• hot water is not common to have in showers.  We have a little switch that changes it to hot water but it has to be on very low water pressure and it's only warm never hot water.  
• you are charged for water at restaurants lots of the time...especially on coastal towns. 
• Everyone says "pura vida" for basically everything
• In front of every house is a metal gate

Today was a good day. Class was kind of hard for some reason...it just seemed longer than normal. They are long classes 8-12 can get a little rough. But after that a big group of us went and played some good soccer.  Then two of my friends and I went to this delicious cafe.  Then we had a little adventure finding this bakery, where I got the most delicious pastry thing. Mmm I'll have to go there more often.  The three of us went to his house and had a good little hang out sesh.  Once my friend Janet and I left it was definitely pouring rain so I got to use my umbrella for the first time woot woot! It was quite the adventure walking to the supermercado avoiding trees and cars and trying not to fall down ha. But I bought the adapter thing I need for my computer which was score! Now I finished up some homework and I am about to head off to a self defense class. It is going to be interesting but I figured eh why not go it's something to try and if I don't like it I don't have to go back.
